West Pakistan
geographical name
the former western division of Pakistan which was coextensive with present-day Pakistan
Note: Pakistan as it originally existed in 1947 after partition with India consisted of two separate portions 1,000 miles apart, West Pakistan and East Bengal. East Bengal was renamed East Pakistan in 1955. In 1971 East Pakistan was split off from Pakistan to become Bangladesh, which meant that what had been West Pakistan was now the whole of Pakistan.
